
Kelly Clarkson became the personification of the American Dream when she won the first series of American Idol. She reaffirmed the idea that you could originate no matter where you are, and then became a superstar with something tangible American fans could hold on to and most importantly buying it. Her debut album had a huge success then, after switching to another record label and getting more control of her sound the second album became the top-selling album of any "American Idol" participant. Apart from touring regularly and recording numerous Top Ten singles, releasing two albums with multi-Platinum status, acting as a mentor on multiple singing shows, and writing or co-writing much of her material and has won a respectable number of awards. She has been awarded Four American Music Awards as well with twelve Billboard Music Awards. Two Grammy Awards and three MTV Video Music Awards. There have been 98 nominations to major awards for her music, and seventy of them have been given.
