Allison Chinchar, a CNN and HLN meteorologist for CNN and HLN. The station airs her regularly on CNN's "New Day Weekend" and HLN's "Weekend Express', as well as CNN International shows. Prior to joining CNN in June of 2015, she served as meteorologist for regional stations located in Atlanta, Nashville, and Chattanooga, Tennessee. She was a meteorologist for hurricanes and blizzards and also flooding, wildfires and was awarded an Emmy for the coverage she provided of Hurricane Dorian, which hit the Bahamas during the year of 2019. She also reported on an event known as the Super Tornado Outbreak of April 2011. More than 350 tornadoes struck in the Southeastern United States in just four days. More than 200 tornadoes occurring on April 27th alone. She's reported on the effects of climate change but has also covered volcanic eruptions and earthquakes because of her background in environmental science. Chinchar holds a Bachelor's Degree in Atmospheric Science, which she obtained from The Ohio State University. She is a member of numerous organizations, such as The American Meteorological Society and Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society.
