Dolly-Parton

Dolly Parton was born on January 19, 1946, located in Locust Ridge Tenn. She had a family of 12 children. She had a vivid imagination that helped her escape from the grim realities of life. Even before learning to read and compose the first song she ever composed, she was composing her own tunes. When she was 8 at the time, she purchased the first electric guitar. Then she started singing at the Knoxville Tenn Radio Station. At the same time she made her debut album for Gold Band Records an independent small label. The singer established a name for herself locally while still in the high school system, but she wanted to be on about a bigger stage. The singer moved to Nashville shortly after her graduation in 1964. Dumb Blonde, Something Fishy and Dumb Blonde both charted on Monument Records in 1967. Porter Wagoner had been looking for a female performer to be a part of his syndicated show from the beginning. Parton was hired in 1967 and signed by RCA Records by 1968, and became a member of the Grand Ole Opry. Her departure from the show came, however, in 1974 due to her albums on her own like Joshua Coat Of Many Colors and Jolene exceeded the sales of their joint albums. Following their breakup, Parton wrote the song I Will Always Love You for Wagoner and it went to Number. 1 for the first time in 1974.
